Locanda Delle Ginestre

The inn sits right in Genazzano’s historic center, with mountain views from one side and a look over the old town from the other. The rooms are bright, clean, and roomy. The quadruple rooms even have two separate rooms. The owners were kind and helpful, and breakfast came with fresh items like jam, plum cake, tea, coffee, cappuccino, toast, and a cake they baked themselves. A practical note from me as a travel agent: the building is tall, and stairs lead up to reception and the rooms, so it may not work well for guests with mobility problems. There’s a movable seat on the first flight that can take someone up to the first floor. Taking that into account, I’d give the inn an 8. About 200 meters away, Terremoto is a very interesting osteria. I had excellent gnocchi alla Gricia there, though the pasta shape looked more like coda de sorica. As Gigi, the owner, puts it, the dish came before carbonara. The food was excellent and fairly priced. The place dates back to 1890 and has a wonderful mountain view.

Finding a nearby parking space with white lines wasn’t hard, though the property has no parking of its own. The place itself is clean, well kept, and recently renovated, in a beautiful old village beside a castle with plenty to see. The staff were warm and friendly. A lovely spot for a quiet, relaxing stay.

The breakfast was simple, but everything was delicious and good quality. Massimo and Diana gave us such a warm welcome and were refined and incredibly kind. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the property is beautiful, surrounded by a stunning landscape. Shame we couldn’t stay a few more days. Maybe we’ll come back.

We make the trip from Sicily to stay at this inn every year, and always have a wonderful time. Diana, the owner, is very kind and does her best to meet her guests’ needs. The rooms are spacious, bright, and well appointed. Genazzano is in the heart of the Prenestino Mountains, which makes it easy to visit other lovely, interesting towns nearby.
