We were a bit nervous after reading some negative reviews, but ended up having a great time. The place is in a handy part of La Spezia, near restaurants, bars, and other amenities, and the train made getting to Cinque Terre easy. Our room was very clean, with high ceilings and a lovely large window. It was just a bed and a private toilet, which was exactly what we wanted. The owner was quick to reply on Whatsapp, and it felt like good value. My partner and I would happily come back.

I paid for the room through Chase, but the owner said the payment hadn't come through and wasn't helpful at all. I've never run into this problem before. I had to find somewhere else to stay. Really poor service, and I wouldn't recommend it.

We spent the first afternoon trying to find somewhere to leave the car. We'd booked through Booking.com and chosen a property with parking, but there was no parking nearby. The host directed us to the stadium area, 2 km away, where there were only blue lines with a two-hour limit. The listing mentioned public parking for €10 a day, and we expected to arrive and park without all that hassle. The room was in awful shape. There was dust everywhere, the floor was dirty, something that looked like a tooth was on the sink, and the chairs were broken and unusable. The balcony ashtray was full of cigarettes and water. The kettle was dirty and covered in limescale, and there wasn't even a tea bag. The pillows were cheap Ikea ones that were no good. The room wasn't cleaned until the next day. We were told the cleaner comes once a week, and if you're unlucky, they might only change the bed. Even the cleaning lady wasn't sure she'd cleaned the room the week before. When we asked to cancel, our request was refused, so we ended up sleeping in a pigsty. The host bluntly said our €300 for three nights was just "three cards." A room shouldn't be a dump. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY!

The room was okay and the shower was excellent, but the bathroom was shared and that hadn't been listed.

The price was great, and both the room and bathroom were clean and nice. The staff were really friendly and helpful. When we had a minor issue with the door, they came straight over to sort it out.
