Hotel Hermitage

The garden is lovely and the staff are nice. Service was absolutely perfect. The rooms are small, but pleasant, quiet and renovated. There’s a good breakfast with plenty of sweet options, cheese, ham and fruit. The beach is about a five-minute walk away. For dinner, you can go to a restaurant that serves great food at more than acceptable prices. I can definitely recommend a visit.

If economy class is your thing, you may like it. The room was tiny and bare, the bathroom looked straight out of the 70s, and the TV had exactly two German channels and no Netflix. It was very clean, though, and there was a mini-fridge. As Germans, we didn’t feel welcome. At check-in, nobody gave us any information about amenities such as Wi-Fi or beach access, and there was no information folder in the room, so we had to figure things out ourselves. Coffee wasn’t even offered at breakfast. The waiter we first asked simply refused to serve us. All the other guests were Italian.

The staff were incredibly friendly and did their best to make our stay enjoyable. We asked about bikes for a ride along the seafront, and they kindly offered us a day’s rental. The bikes were brand new. The gentleman looking after the dining room was especially kind and professional. We stayed as a couple at Hotel Hermitage, booking by phone because we couldn’t work out the rates and rooms on the website. It’s a family-run hotel with reception open 24 hours, indoor parking, a pool open until 7:00 PM, and plenty of places to relax in the garden. The hotel was very quiet when we arrived at the start of the week, with only a few guests. It filled up over the May 1st long weekend, and some of that peace went away. Rooms are small and not soundproofed, so you can hear noises from anywhere in the hotel. Aside from that, we can only speak highly of the place. Breakfast is homemade and served buffet-style. It’s simple but satisfying, with options for a Saturday breakfast or something sweet, and convenient hours from 8:00-11:00. If we return to Tuscany, we’ll definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!
