Our room was one of the fascinating limestone caves, and it had air conditioning. The location was great, with several excellent restaurants close by, and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

The two-bedroom family room had a balcony with a beautiful view both day and night, and breakfast was substantial. My only real complaint was cleanliness: there was dust on the floor, hairdryer, and bidet, and mold on the bathroom floor. The hotel also didn't provide slippers or vanity kits.

The rooms were spacious, the bathrooms clean, and the showers worked properly. It was very quiet, too. Breakfast was modest but really delicious. The rooms get pretty cold in winter, though the AC works well if you need to warm things up. A fantastic stay, and I'd definitely return.

We were a family of four in a two-bedroom suite for one night in early August 2022, and I wish we'd booked a couple more days. Matera is gorgeous, and we ran out of time before seeing and doing everything we wanted. Our suite was comfortable, distinctive, and well furnished, with a private terrace overlooking the city at night. That view was magical. The staff were great, service impeccable, and breakfast was wonderful. I'm sure we'll return to Matera, and we'll stay here again.
