Buon Vento

Mr. Francesco was thoughtful and attentive, and gave us helpful ideas for things to see and do despite the rain. Breakfast was generous and excellent, with warm croissants, tasty focaccia, jam, honey, fruit, and juices. The bathroom was spotless, the linens were perfect, and we could park in a closed garage. It’s a clean, comfortable apartment about 10 minutes from the center by car. Highly recommended, I’ll definitely return!

The fresh, clean smell was the first thing I noticed when we walked in. The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with laundry room, air conditioning, and several rooms for larger families. There’s also a handy private garage, where we parked our motorcycle. The historic center is 10 minutes away. Francesco was extremely kind and helpful, even though we arrived at 9:00 PM, and he had freshly baked croissants waiting on the table. Breakfast was plentiful, too. I’d highly recommend it and would definitely come back if I get the chance.

Francesco knows Matera inside out and is generous with suggestions and historical stories. He also went out of his way to meet our breakfast requests. We tried sweets, locally sourced fruit, focaccia, burrata, and salami, with a different little touch each day. The B&B is recently renovated, looks brand new, and is kept in immaculate shape. It’s on the ground floor of an apartment building, a couple of kilometers from the center. We had a car, and Francesco provided a garage so we could park safely. There’s a separate entrance at the back. Each room has its own bathroom, though ours wasn’t ensuite and was reached through a corridor. It wasn’t a big deal. Staying at “Buon Vento” felt like visiting a friend in Matera. Francesco’s simplicity, humility, and empathy fit how we think of Lucanians, an extraordinary people. He’s a skilled hospitality professional, generous with his guests, and very cultured. The “Good Wind” made our trip even better. We already know where we’ll stay next time.

Francesco, the owner, made us feel very welcome and was a great guide. The apartment was spacious, spotless, and had every comfort. It’s close to the historic center, and we got around easily by bike. The area was very quiet, and we had a pleasant stay.
