We walked all over Matera and really appreciated coming back to such a comfortable bed. Our room, Idris, is enormous, with a spacious bathroom, and the restoration is beautiful. Antica Civita also made a great base, just 50 metres from Piazza Duomo and about the same distance from Sassi Caveoso. Francesca was lovely and helpful, and always reachable on WhatsApp for questions or advice. Grazie mille 🙏🙏

We’d gladly stay here again. The hostess was kind and helpful, and breakfast was satisfying. The B&B has a lovely view over the Sassi, right in the heart of Matera. It’s been renovated with quality materials, and the elegance and comfort really stand out.

There are a lot of stairs to get here, but that’s Matera, up and down all the time. The view from the terrace is enchanting, and the property is beautiful and immaculately clean. The owner welcomed us warmly and shared lots of advice on enjoying Matera and finding traditional food. Antic Acivita’s convenient location helped make it a really pleasant weekend.

The private rooftop terrace, with its breathtaking view across Matera, was the highlight of our stay. After all those steps to reach Antica Civita, we were welcomed warmly into a beautiful junior suite spread over two levels. We won’t forget this special visit.
