Antica Torre di Iuso

Breakfast was tasty, and we enjoyed having it up on the rooftop terrace overlooking Matera. The location is great, and the room was fantastic. We stayed for two nights, and the communication was outstanding, from check-in through to the explanation of the tower’s history and Matera.

It was great to sleep in a piece of Matera’s history, in what is described as the third oldest city in the world. The updated rooms were beautifully designed and super clean. The owner’s hospitality was the best I’ve experienced in Italy. I was incredibly satisfied and even felt humbled by how well we were treated.

The rooftop was a highlight, with great views and comfortable seating. Our hosts also welcomed us when we arrived, walked us through the property's features, and shared useful tips about Matera. Breakfast was very good, and I've already recommended the place to friends and family.

We only booked one night in Matera on the way to Naples, since my husband's grandmother was born and raised there and he wanted to see where she was from. We really should have planned more time in this lovely little city. This was the best hotel stay I've ever had. Alina arranged our ride from Bari airport and booked a tour of the sassi. Since it was our honeymoon, she also brought breakfast to our room when we asked. She was so kind and looked after us wonderfully. The room is gorgeous, and the view is hard to beat at any hour. We sat on the balcony with a bottle of wine and just enjoyed it. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large and spotless, and the overhead rain shower and jacuzzi both worked great. Alina had thought of lots of nice extras too: an aux cord for music, a proper powerful hairdryer that saved me from the usual 45-minute ordeal, robes, coffee, and water. We hope to come back for a longer visit and will definitely stay here again.
