Mr. Nicola made our visit much easier. Since we arrived at night, he explained where to begin exploring, shared tips for daytime and evening, gave us a map, and pointed out a lovely nearby viewpoint. La Gemma Dei Sassi was clean and the welcome was friendly. We could park for free right in front of the apartment, and its location was ideal for visiting the Sassi. We’d definitely recommend La Gemma Dei Sassi to anyone coming to the area! 👌

Just beside the old town, with the newer part of town close by too. This B&B was great value in Matera. The room’s architecture and details were really nice, and our generous host put together a good, filling breakfast.

My room was over the kitchen, so I could hear quite a bit of noise during breakfast and at other times too. The ceiling was low and curved, and I bumped my head several times before getting used to it. I’m 5 ft 7 in tall.

The room was amazing, with a big shower and plenty of hot water, and breakfast was nice too. It’s an easy walk to the center. The guy running the place was kind and polite, and knew the city well. Very much recommended!
