I booked this B&B on a spontaneous trip because I wanted to stay in the middle of the Sassi di Matera, and I’m so glad I did. The old town location has gorgeous views by day and at night. It’s easy to reach from the nearest road, where taxis, cars, and buses can drive. There’s also a terrace with a spectacular look over the Sassi, the sunrise, and the caves on the other side of the valley. The rooms are clean and each has its own personality, with artsy bits and cute details. It’s just away from the busiest tourist route, so it feels relaxed, while everything is still a short walk away. There are lots of steps, though. I planned to stay two nights and added another because I loved it. The owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful, before I arrived, during the stay, and as I was leaving. I felt very welcome and would recommend this quirky little B&B.

The room was spacious, and the shared kitchen and terrace had a lovely view. The owners were friendly. It’s in the historic sassi, so getting there means carrying your bags up cobbled stairs.

Serena was a real gem as a hostess, looking after us and sharing great suggestions for parking, restaurants, ice cream places, and more. The house was beautifully designed, well equipped, and warm even during our winter visit. The terrace, with its magnificent view, was a highlight. We’d give Corte dei Venti more than five stars if we could, to get past its other top ratings, but the rating only goes up to five.

We enjoyed our room, which was clean, nicely furnished, and had everything we needed, even though we had no luggage. Serena was incredibly kind. When we got turned around in the party crowds, she came to pick us up. We’d decided at the last minute to stay overnight in Matera and stumbled on this beautiful property, inside and out. The rooms and lounge are lovely, and the panoramic terrace looks out over the Church of Santa Maria di Idris. Highly recommended.
