The bathroom floor was dirty when we arrived, with intimate hairs on it. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a photo. Then, at 7:55 in the morning, three painters were working loudly right outside our ground-floor room near reception, singing, shouting, and laughing. No one asked them to quiet down. We’d booked one night to rest after our long road trip across northern Italy, and it was a terrible experience. Luckily, it was only one night. I hope the hotel keeps improving, because it clearly needs work, as the photos show, but it also needs staff and management who respect their guests. I don’t recommend it, and I don’t understand how it has four stars with such a lack of professionalism and respect.

Even with four of us sharing the room, we all fit, which was a real plus. The food was delicious, and the service was a full 10/10. We loved the hotel.

The countryside around the hotel is beautiful, with wheat fields and lovely towns nearby, and Matera is close too. It’s a relaxing place, built in an eco-friendly way. Our room was very comfortable, and breakfast was made with fresh local products. A nice start to the day whether you’re travelling for work or leisure. There’s also a good parking lot right in front. Highly recommended.

The outside didn’t make much of an impression at first, but inside it turned out to be a hidden gem. Everything was clean and crisp, and the room layout worked well. Breakfast had a range of delicious pastries, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

The new rooms and beds were really nice, and the pool itself was good. But we chose this hotel because we wanted a pool for the hot midday, and there was no shade because the umbrellas had been removed. They also require a bathing cap. We had to get one at reception, then found a charge of 2.50 euro each on the bill, 10 euro for our family. Nobody mentioned the fee, and we couldn’t find the information easily. That ruined our day. After reading the owner’s reply, I removed the word they objected to. Thanks for pointing out that the rules are somewhere on the website. It’s in Italian, which I don’t speak, so I used a translator. I eventually found a sentence under “services -> in hotel” saying the outdoor pool is available to guests in summer until 15 September, with “information - regulation” linked. I had to click through to another PDF, also in Italian, and translate it to find the extra charge for the cap and city tax. The details are there, but they weren’t easy for me to find or understand. The owner still didn’t answer why a cap is required. We stayed at more than 15 hotels on our road trip in Italy, and this was the only one that required one. I don’t see why I should bring my own when I’ve never had one. As far as I know, showering before using a pool is standard. The room quality is reflected in my rating: I gave the rooms five stars. Service got three, an average rating, because nobody clearly told us about the cap charge, and at checkout one receptionist was on the phone while the other chatted with someone for over 10 minutes. Neither said anything like “sorry to keep you waiting.” I gave the location two stars because it’s remote, as we knew in advance, and the pool is beside a road where you can see and hear trucks. It’s also in an industrial area rather than a tourist area. We knew about the location beforehand, so that part wasn’t a surprise. Two stars means I don’t think the location is great. I’m not trying to harm the business. I’m sharing what happened so other travellers know what to expect. I gave the stay two stars because the price-to-quality ratio felt below average to me. I don’t skimp on hotels, and I paid a premium price expecting a premium place. That wasn’t what I got.
