The owner, Matteo, was thoughtful and helpful throughout, with excellent restaurant suggestions. Every place we tried from his list was great. He also came with us to find parking so we wouldn’t get fined. The property is carefully maintained and recently renovated, mixing antique details with a modern feel. You can even use voice control to switch the lights on and off. It was comfortable and spotless, right in the historic center, a few steps from the main street and Sassi di Matera, with a beautiful panoramic viewpoint nearby. I’d highly recommend it, and I’d stay here again if I came back.

The location was good, but the apartment itself was disappointing in person for the price, and the whole experience felt careless and unprofessional. I’d booked it for the night of April 24th to 25th, a holiday when the city was packed, so finding somewhere else was difficult. There were four of us, my husband, me, and two girls under five. When we arrived, we learned the apartment had mistakenly been rented to another group. The owner was mortified and panicked, but didn’t do much to sort it out. My husband and I had to push her to make a couple of calls. Luckily, the kind people who hosted us helped us find our own solution. Otherwise, we would have had to go home.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was clean and welcoming. A great base for exploring the city.

This small but comfortable place in central Matera had everything we needed, and the host managed it wonderfully. It’s only a few minutes from the Sassi. The one downside was the bidet, which had been replaced with a showerhead. Otherwise, it’s definitely worth trying.
