Matera Belvedere

The apartment was very clean, and Mr. Gaetano was kind and helpful. It's on the second floor of a recently renovated building, about 100 meters from Via Lucana and Via Casalnuovo, which lead south toward the Sassi district. The roomy bedrooms have a distinctive anime and comic theme. There are two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a washing machine. Heating worked well, and hot water was readily available. I would suggest adding disposable slippers and non-slip mats. Highly recommended.

Gaetano was courteous, polite, flexible, and helpful. The apartment is spacious, and the part I was given was more than satisfactory. The rooms were well kept, nicely furnished, and roomy, with a large bathroom. Their artistic touch reflects the character and spirit of B&B owner Gaetano. It's in a somewhat out-of-the-way area, which means easy parking and no noise. A good fit if you want to avoid the tourist crowds. Breakfast is at a café just a few meters away. That might sound inconvenient, but it wasn't really; in summer, it was pleasant to take a stroll in the morning before and after a hearty breakfast. My only small complaint, and the reason for four stars, was that there wasn't hot water for the shower. Still, I had an excellent experience and highly recommend it.

The owner was helpful, and I'd gladly return. Guests can use the exercise desk, wall bars, and weights, plus a hi-fi system and Blu-ray player. There are TVs in the rooms, and a vintage collection ranging from computers to model cars. Breakfast is paid for at a café a few steps away. The interior is very nice.

Gaetano, the owner, is a wonderful person. The room was cozy, perfectly furnished, and in a quiet spot very close to the center. Highly recommended.
