Moyseion Matera - Adults Only

It was incredible, unforgettable, and just an awesome experience. The staff were amazing, the pool is hard to describe, and the whole thing was top notch. We only booked one night because our base is in Polignano, which I'm sad about. Highly, highly recommend it. Worth every penny!

The food drew on Ancient Greek cuisine, and the staff performed a moving reenactment of Ancient Greek traditions with live lyra music. Guests also receive robes styled like Ancient Greek chitons, which fit the atmosphere beautifully. The spa was extraordinary, especially the underground thermal pool, which felt unique and deeply relaxing. Daniella and Mariella gave us a couples massage that was an absolute dream. Every room and common area felt like part of a living museum, with breathtaking décor that was elegant, thoughtful and full of character. From the moment we arrived, Federica and her colleagues welcomed us with genuine warmth and impeccable service. Their passion for Greek history shows in every detail. Hotel Moyseion is more than a hotel, it's a one-of-a-kind blend of history, hospitality and luxury. Truly unforgettable, and highly recommended to anyone visiting Matera.

I spent a week here, staying in two rooms and looking at the others too. It's hard to choose the most beautiful one. Each is decorated with so much care, right down to the smallest detail. The delicious breakfast is thoughtfully chosen and served in a lovely common area, and the water sanctuary and pool will take your breath away. The staff are so kind, they make you feel like a queen. The location is great for exploring. Turn right for a scenic walk to Sassi Caveoso, or left to reach Sant'Agostino church and explore sassi Barisano. Another option is to turn left onto Via Fiorentini, which leads up to the centre. Matera is such a unique place, and Moyseion fits right into its atmosphere. You can feel how much thought and soul went into the project, and how beautifully it has all come together. For me, Moyseion was a dream come true and one of the best experiences of my life.

Breakfast was delicious, and the staff who prepared it were clearly invested in their work and proud of it. The basement “pool” was dreamy, with a perfect temperature, peaceful atmosphere, near privacy and just-right lighting. What a fun, different experience. You really have to try it for yourself. I'd definitely recommend it and come back. Jump into the experience, wear the robes and leave your phones in your rooms. It's only for a little while, and it makes the whole thing so fun.
