We stayed two nights in a quiet, out-of-the-way part of town, with parking right by the entrance. It’s a very nice place to stay in Matera if you’d rather be outside the busy center. Breakfast is pretty minimal, though there’s a large Coop supermarket nearby and a small fridge in the room. Erica gave us lots of information about the city.

It’s peaceful and secure here, and the hosts are welcoming. There’s free parking, and our modern room felt brand new, right in front of the pool. You can reach the center in five minutes. I highly recommend it and would definitely come back.
