Sisters Love

Breakfast on the building’s roof, with the Sassi of Matera spread out below, felt like an Italian dream. Our room was enormous, with plenty of space to move around, including in the bathroom. The place was fresh and clean smelling throughout. We arrived through a classic Italian alley that made me feel like I was in my own neighborhood. There were hearts left by previous guests hanging near the entrance. The owners were so hospitable, sweet, willing to help, and incredibly helpful, with that Italian warmth that brings color, sound, and feeling to human connection.

The staff made us feel at home, always ready with advice on what to see, where to eat, and how to enjoy Matera. The B&B is right in the heart of the city, just steps from the Sassi, so we could explore the historic center and its sights on foot without needing a car. A really lovely stay.

Giuseppe and Salvo were always available, and the owners were incredibly friendly. The room had everything we needed for a weekend, including parking. With the Sassi and city center just a few steps away, it’s a convenient base in Matera.

We felt so warmly welcomed that my husband and I left Beppe our hearts. The B&B was very clean, and Beppe was unbelievably sweet. He brought breakfast to our basic room on two different days, with cakes, water, and assorted sweets. He was willing to provide other things for anyone who wanted them. There’s a hairdryer and shampoo. My only suggestion for Beppe would be to add a kettle in each room, or somewhere accessible by the entrance, for guests who want to make tea or coffee before bed. The place is about five minutes from the Sassi and not too far from the center, so it was great for getting around on foot and leaving the car parked without touching it.
