Glamour Apartments

The parking on the roof sounded convenient, but using the car depends on a hotel employee opening the road barriers, and they're only there from 9 to 18:00. The room itself is just around the corner from duomo, and looks promising at first. Then you notice the broken faucet, the bathroom door and washing-machine cover with clumsy repairs, and dirty curtains. The shower only has the “rain” setting, which isn't useful for a proper wash. The worst part was being charged €25 on top of about $100 a night for a 19:15 check-in. That feels totally unacceptable for a central hotel in a metropolis like Milan.

The building lift didn't feel very safe, and the street can get a little loud because of the location. We still slept well, though light sleepers might not. The room was nice, the bathroom beautiful, and everything was clean. For the location, the price was very cheap when we visited in March 2016. You're directly across from Duomo and only a 30-second walk from the Metro station. There's no reception, but the building concierge on the ground floor called the hotel staff, who came shortly after. If staff aren't downstairs, ask the concierge before heading up to the apartments.

It was easy to sleep despite the noise, though things could get loud if there was a lot going on in the piazza. We liked the studio's Italian-style decor and found it comfortable, with two beds, a kitchenette, a huge bathroom, air conditioning, and good wifi. It isn't luxurious, but we loved the view and location. They even offered us a cell phone to use during our stay. Service was good before and throughout the visit. Calling just before we arrived helped the staff member meet us downstairs, since there's no real reception. Finding the entrance wasn't easy, so look for the pink building directly across from the Duomo.

The room was beautiful, but it was hot when we arrived and the air conditioning didn't work properly during our two-night stay. The manager wasn't there, so we spoke by phone and asked him to fix it or move us to another room. He was rude and insisted that 28 degrees was pleasant. He did neither, and when we asked for compensation he laughed at us. That's terrible treatment of paying customers.
