Getting in turned into far more hassle than I expected. I chose this place because I wanted to avoid first-night check-in problems, but sorting out a late arrival involved way too much drama, so I left pretty dissatisfied. The access system also needs simplifying, with all the keys, gate codes, and turns. The place has a cool Milanese feel, and they seem to be aiming for a mix between a hotel and an Airbnb. They fuss over some details, like the five pillow choices displayed on the room walls, while missing others. It might suit younger guests looking to socialize with hipsters on the terrace during a longer stay, but I’d skip it for a quick business trip. I’ll stick with one of the many good Airbnb options nearby.

A real plus is the location near the Navigli, with its little restaurants and nightlife. The guesthouse is functional and eco-friendly, with a nice design, and the people there were helpful.

I slept better than I ever have, despite my neck pain. The memory foam mattress helped, and there were several pillows hanging on the wall to try, so I found the most comfortable one and noted the brand to look into buying one. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. I picked miLoft for its reputation as a quiet, peaceful place in a central spot, and it lived up to that. The building is beautiful, a former Bisleri ironworks factory and a historic Milan landmark. Once indoors, the city noise disappears, and the furnishings are all high quality and professionally done. I’d definitely stay here again if I return to Milan.
