Hotel Rex Milano

The beds were really comfortable, but the room had a big stain on the curtain, the AC wouldn’t work, and the hair dryer was so damaged I was afraid to touch it. The hotel isn’t bad, though it’s far from perfect and quite a way from the center. Breakfast is available for 15 euros; we picked some up at the coffee place on the corner for a third of the price.

The neighborhood was quiet and the lift was handy. Staff were helpful whenever we had questions, and there’s a nearby shop for essentials. Our room was clean and nicely decorated, with AC that worked perfectly. The bathroom was clean and in decent condition, though it could have been better maintained. We didn’t get to try breakfast. Wi-Fi was hit or miss, working well at times and not at all at others. We had a great stay and would recommend the place.

There’s a park right in front, and shops for food and basic things nearby. The hotel is a bit far from Milan’s center, but you can take the metro or a taxi. During our visit two weeks ago, some kind of repair work was going on, which left the lobby a little chaotic, though it didn’t bother us much. Our room was big enough and had the comforts we needed, and breakfast had a good variety and was very good. The Wi-Fi was the main downside, so unstable that we had to use our data because it barely worked. I hope they fix it for future guests. The staff were so, so nice, kind, and helpful.

The staff were friendly, especially the person working in the breakfast area. The Wi-Fi, though, was awful and really frustrating. Breakfast wasn’t for me: I enjoyed the coffee and croissants, but the scrambled eggs were watery and the sausages looked odd. I tried one bite of the eggs and stopped there. On arrival, things seemed clean and in order, but then we found strange stains on the towels, including ones presented as new, which made us question the hygiene. The shower head also looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, though the room was otherwise neat and bearable. I didn’t feel comfortable in the area as a woman. On my first day I got strange comments and looks from men and heard violent shouting nearby, so I wouldn’t want to be alone there. For the price, it was an okay to bad experience.
