Serendipity Rooms

We were given a larger room as an upgrade, and it was spacious and very clean. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. It was easy to get around too, since nearly everything was close by. We really enjoyed our visit to Milan.

I booked a Junior Suite at Serendipity Rooms, but at check-in they took me to a completely different kind of place: a hidden brothel inside a residential building. Nothing in the listing disclosed that. I was travelling alone with my four-year-old, and when I raised the issue, the gentleman helping me acknowledged what the location was and said he'd speak to management. The so-called “manager” then insisted it was safe, even though there was constant traffic and the environment was plainly unsuitable for a child. I was told my booked room was no longer available and that this was what they'd decided to provide instead. I had paid for a suite, not a concealed room in a residential building under false pretenses. After I objected, another staff member offered to show me the “original room” across the street. I agreed, though I was already extremely upset. It was the same situation in another building, just on a higher floor. It wasn't safe, it wasn't a suite, and it wasn't acceptable for a child. I'm a single mother travelling without support. If anything happened to my child, I'd be on my own, and the staff showed no regard for that. Eventually they offered us an apartment elsewhere. Throughout this, the “manager” wouldn't speak with me by phone, which clearly seemed intended to avoid giving a refund. We got there late and exhausted and stayed the night. The next day, we found mold all over the bathroom. Absolutely disgusting, and a serious health hazard. This property is grossly misrepresented, hidden in residential buildings, and showed no concern for guest safety or honesty, especially with a child involved. I'll be taking this to Expedia and other platforms and pushing for the listing to be reviewed or removed. Families and other travellers should stay far away.

March 31-April 2025 The junior suite was spacious and had a small fridge with complimentary drinks, but we couldn't enjoy our stay because it was infested with hundreds of ants at night. The first thing I noticed was a really strong, unpleasant bleach smell. It made me wonder if the overpowering cleaning products were a short-term attempt to get rid of the ants for a few hours. The setup felt unusual, with just a few rooms in what seemed like an old office building. The empty hallways were quite dark, and there were no room numbers. Our door had the same wallpaper as the wall, so I mistook it for a cleaning closet. The location was good, and the staff member who checked us in was genuinely friendly and welcoming. Management moved us to another accommodation, but getting some money back took a lot of time and effort. As other reviews have said, you have to chase them until they respond, and they make refunds very difficult. It was unprofessional and disappointing, and we were unhappy with how they handled the disruption.

The place was small, basically just a room and a toilet, but it worked well for us during our two nights in Milan. Staff communication was clear, and getting inside was easy even though we arrived outside opening hours. The rooms share thin walls, so we could hear everything our neighbor was saying. It wasn't a major problem, especially with only 4-5 rooms in total.
