Mata made me feel welcome right away and took such good care of me during my week at MATA Bed and Breakfast in Milan in June. He really goes out of his way to keep guests comfortable, safe, and settled. The neighborhood felt safe and local, with what I needed nearby, and the Metro was only a short walk away, making it easy to get around. One evening Mata took us for drinks and introduced us to some lovely local places I wouldn’t have found by myself. It was a thoughtful touch that made the trip feel more personal and connected to the city. If you want a warm, safe, well-located stay with a host who cares, I highly recommend MATA B&B. I’d stay again.

I had booked another hotel before choosing this place instead, and now this is the only place I’d stay in central Milano. Everything is close by, and the room is luxurious, high quality, and kept clean all the time. He even provided a gorgeous balcony with succulent plants that greeted me each morning. I spent most of my time at nearby restaurants, and he also taught me how to make a good Italian dinner with a lovely wine pairing. 100000 stars. I’ll be back and only want to stay here in beautiful Milano.

I was too gentle in my Airbnb review of Mata, and his reply minimized how gross, unprofessional, and inappropriate the situation was. The age difference between us and the fact that he was my host made it worse. I explained this clearly by text, but he never apologized. During my three nights at Mata’s, I didn’t think anything was especially wrong at the time, and took his behavior as hospitality. More than once, he called me and the other woman staying there his “daughters.” On the morning I left, he drove me to the airport and again called me his “daughter” for the day. Later he texted that he found me “very cute and interesting.” I asked, “Cute and Interesting like a daughter?” He replied, “I really like you... absolutely not as a daughter because if I tell you what I think you'll send me to jail 😂😂😂” It’s sadly spoiled my memories of Milan. I paid 50 euro a night and was sexualized by a host over 50 when I was a 27-year-old woman. Yikes.

The host is kind, respectful, and calm, and is always ready to help when you need something. The apartment feels safe and comfortable, is consistently clean, and has everything available. It’s in a prime spot near supermarkets, the metro, bars, restaurants, and trains, and it feels safe to walk around at any time. I’ll definitely return and recommend this Bed & breakfast 1000%.
