The receptionists were really nice, especially Mr. Daniel. There’s a small grocery shop in the hotel lobby with water and other drinks at good prices, and the coffee machine is free to use. My room was very clean, tidy, and a decent size. Good value if you want to be near a Metro station.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who needs a quiet night. Heavy thuds and what sounded like furniture being dragged went on all night, with loud bangs every five to ten minutes. I complained to the night desk several times and even shared a recording, but nothing was done. They said the hotel was full and they couldn’t move me until the following day. The hotel really couldn’t address the main issue affecting its guests.

The room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable, and the bathroom looked brand new. The place feels modern and good quality for the price. From what I saw, the hotel has been completely renovated, so it doesn’t seem like the place described in the bad reviews I’d read. I had no issues with anything during my stay. Breakfast was the one letdown. It was just basic things like cheap bread, ham, cheese, yogurt, cereal, and some fruit, so I’d eat elsewhere. I did like being able to use the coffee machine for free outside breakfast hours too.

The best thing here is the location, very close to the train station, and the place felt clean and safe. It’s a simple, budget-friendly stop for a night, rather than somewhere to spend time. There’s no gym, pool, or rooftop, the breakfast wasn’t great, and the street-facing rooms have dull views. The rates seemed reasonable for Milan, though nothing especially cheap or special. In the room, the layout made sense, and they brought extra pillows quickly when I asked. There was a kettle and tea, heating, wardrobe space, and a working towel heater. Slippers were a nice surprise. The bed had a hard spring mattress and the pillows varied in quality. Wi-Fi was weak, and there were no tissues or ironing board. The toilet paper was single-ply. The shower worked and had decent hot water. Double-glazed windows cut down street noise, and the lights and AC worked. It was clean and tidy, though I noticed mould in the bathroom corners, some temperature changes, and dated fittings. Staff responded when I asked for things, but the friendliness was average. The toiletries were cheap and the towels basic. No coffee or robes in the room, no minibar or other extras, and no concierge. It’s an unusual little find tucked confusingly inside “Hotel Metropoli.” I wouldn’t expect barista-level coffee or boutique style. The PICKLE scale gave it 3.5 out of 6: full marks for price, mixed marks for infrastructure, comfort, kindness, and experience, and none for luxury. Each of those six areas gets a full pickle for strong performance, a half pickle for mixed, and none for poor; a perfect score earns the Purple Pickle Award.
