The location is good, and the receptionists spoke some English, which made communication possible. Restaurant staff didn’t speak English, but at least they smiled. Most of the rest felt neglected: the furniture was old, the rooms smelled strange, and they clearly hadn’t been renovated in years. The windows let in noise from the bar across the street, where loud music and karaoke went on at weekends. Ants were the worst part. The beds were uncomfortable, the mattresses deeply dented, the sheets torn, and the towels thin as sheets. The balcony was dirty, and the shower swung between boiling water and a weak, pressureless sprinkle. Breakfast was poor, with white bread, yogurt, boiled eggs, one cheese, mortadella, muesli and cornflakes. Room service only made the beds and didn’t replace towels or sheets. They left behind things that weren’t ours, a ring one time and later a pin, which made me doubt their cleanliness and attention to detail. I asked them to skip room service, but they entered anyway without permission. The location is the only thing in its favour. Everything else felt careless and uncomfortable, and I wouldn’t stay again.

It felt stuck in the 80s, though I really wanted to like the hotel. The rooms are large, so the air conditioning struggles, and the pillows were flat. Reception was like an oven. Service was OK, but it would be nice if the staff smiled. For one night it was fine, but I wouldn’t return.

The staff were courteous, and our bathroom was new and clean. The hotel itself is clearly old, though it has charm, and the meals were small but OK. It could use better air conditioning in the lobby and dining room. My only really bad complaint is the toilet brush. They cost about 2-3 €, so buying one really shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Choose this family-run hotel if you’re after an old-time atmosphere. It’s inexpensive, clean, quiet, and right in the centre of town.
