Villa Sant'Alberto

The food was full of flavor, made with fresh local ingredients, and the atmosphere was relaxed and warm. We had a lovely long evening at Villa Sant’Alberto, with incredible views across the Tuscan countryside from the restaurant on the hill. Filippo was a welcoming, attentive host who made us feel at home straight away. The setting, food, and people all came together beautifully.

What made Villa Sant’Alberto so special was Filippo and his family. They’re kind, honest, hardworking people, and the grandparents and wider family live on the property and come out to greet guests and lend a hand. Filippo and his brother Tommaso went above and beyond. I’d mentioned in my booking message that we were celebrating our first anniversary, then forgot about it. On our first night at dinner they surprised us with a heart-shaped cookie cake decorated with edible flowers and butterflies. We were touched by how thoughtful they were. The room was bigger and cleaner than I expected, with a great shower, hot water, and good pressure. The bed was so comfortable that we slept really well. There’s Starlink WiFi across the property, which gave us excellent internet for a work call. I’d hoped for a peaceful, pretty family-run agriturismo in the countryside with homemade food, and that’s exactly what we found. We had dinner there on two of our three nights and wished we’d eaten there all three. Breakfast on the terrace every morning was plentiful and so good that we barely needed lunch. Their homemade olive oil was heavenly, and we bought two liters. We still talk about how much we miss staying there. The location is perfect, between Chianti, Siena, and Val D’orcia, right in the Crete Senesi. If you stay, consider contacting the property directly to support the family, since sites like Booking.com take a high commission. Thank you, Filippo and family, for such a lovely visit. The pool overlooks the Tuscan countryside, and the grounds are beautiful. Dinner outside faces west, so you get glorious sunsets over the hills. The place has that cool, authentic Tuscan feel, like somewhere you’d see in an advertising brochure. My wife, our five-year-old daughter, and I were lucky to spend three nights at this family-run agriturismo. There are only five apartments, so the personal service made us feel almost like part of the family. We ate there every night, and the food was really amazing. It has the Tuscany you see in coffee table books. I highly recommend staying here. If you’re unsure, don’t overthink it. You won’t regret it.

Filippo and his family made our stay unforgettable. He’s available day and night for requests, and while he’s the face of the villa, his brother Tomasso, parents, and grandparents all work hard to make the experience memorable. By the end, we felt almost like friends of the family. After moving on to another agriturismo, our first thought was that we missed Filippo. Staying here spoils you. With so many great reviews, I wondered what I could add, but it would feel unfair to the family not to write one. Villa Sant’Alberto is truly one of a kind. The apartments are spacious and done in an authentic Tuscan style, with a modest kitchen and bathroom. Each has a terrace where you can unwind before bed. There’s no air conditioning, but even in the extreme heat it didn’t bother us. The apartments are well insulated, and being up on a hill brings a cooling breeze at night. The view from the restaurant and the new pool makes the stay exceptional. I haven’t seen anything that compares. The service from Filippo and his family alone made us feel as though we were at a luxury starred hotel, and the stay exceeded our already high expectations after reading all the great reviews.
