Casa Marina

Friendly host, and a good place to stay.

The owner was very kind and helpful, and the prices were reasonable. For breakfast, Gran Caffè Marina is right by the entrance, with a restaurant nearby too. It felt well suited to a long weekend in Naples. The apartment has a kitchen with a fold-down table, a small living room, two double bedrooms, a single bedroom without a door on a mezzanine, and two bathrooms. One double room has a seafront view of Vesuvius; the other has a bathroom on a mezzanine. There's free Wi-Fi. No heating, though a heater and plenty of laundry were provided. It's on the seafront beyond the port, near Via Duomo, about 15 minutes from the city center and nearly half an hour from the train station. The apartment looks onto busy Via Marina, so you can hear cars and scooters even at night, despite the fairly soundproof windows. We were on the third floor in a tall building, and the stairs were a bit of a challenge with bulky bags since there's no elevator.

Getting around the apartment means passing through the other rooms, whether you're heading to the kitchen, bathroom, or outside. So despite the three bedrooms, there isn't much privacy, and it really works more like one bedroom. One room has no curtain or screens and gets lots of mosquitoes; another faces the noisy street, while the middle room has no view. The stairs are narrow with high steps.

Mr. Infante was friendly and helpful. The place has new interiors and is well furnished, with the basics covered, including air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a safe. The beds were fine, though I found my pillow a little uncomfortable. The price was reasonable.
