We had a very good stay and would happily come back, even aside from the good value. I spent one night here with a friend in September 2024, while we were on our way to visit Civita di Bagnoregio. The hotel is on a quiet street close to the train station, bus stop, and cable car, and was easy to find whether arriving by train or car. Our room was in a separate building across the street from reception. The building looked old but was well cared for, with clean rooms, modern electrical fixtures, and recent double pane windows. The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. It was on the ground floor and generally quiet, though we could hear voices and footsteps in the hallway or next room. They didn't come through loudly, and there was no street noise. Breakfast had an amazing range of delicious pastries, and I tried as many as I could manage. The staff we met were all polite and friendly. There are no luggage lockers, but staff can keep your bags at reception. Keep valuables with you, since there's no security for stored bags. One small thing to plan for: reception opens at 1PM.

For the price, this was a great find, and the cheapest hotel I could find in the area. I was pleasantly surprised by the huge room and the enormous balcony and backyard area, roughly 10x30, with two separate ways to get out to it. The cable car and train station are both about a three minute walk away. Breakfast was excellent, with homemade cakes in at least 10 flavors, plus meat, cheese, toast, and croissants. No cheap pastries in plastic wrappers. I liked the room's style too. It wasn't fancy, but it was in excellent condition and reminded me of a simpler life, maybe an 80s look. I'd stay again if I were in the area.

The owners were friendly, and the location was calm. There's a nearby restaurant serving genuine local food, away from the crowded places in Orvieto. Breakfast was generous, with delicious cakes and good coffee. Parking in the garage is easy and costs € 5.00 per night, well worth it. We recommend staying here.

Our room was lovely, and the staff were friendly at this quiet hotel. Breakfast was only cake, though it was very nice, so that's why I'm giving four stars. Parking on the roadside was fine in this quiet area, and they also offer a secure garage for 5 euro if you prefer. We'd certainly visit again.

Mrs. Picchio was so kind and energetic, and we all liked her. She made the place feel like home. We stayed one night, less than a 10-minute walk from the station. The bed was comfortable, the location was good, and breakfast was a real WOW. Hotel Picchio is a lovely place to stay in Orvieto, and we'll definitely come back if we get the chance.
