Atmosfere Puniche b&b

Marika made our time in Palermo memorable, with her cooking, hosting, and help arranging dinner reservations and suggesting places to visit. Her breakfasts were among the best meals we had there, which says a lot in a city known for its food. Atmosfere Puniche is spacious and welcoming, decorated in a distinctive, quirky way, and sits close enough to walk around Palermo. Marika made my stay in Palermo memorable. She’s welcoming, kind, and always helpful, and says she runs the guesthouse for love rather than as a business. It certainly feels that way. We’d happily come back to this charming and unusual B&B. The rooms are spacious, each decorated with care and its own style, and some have a lovely terrace. The house has a wonderful feel, with its history visible in the old Byzantine walls beneath the palace. The location is ideal, and the breakfast changes each day and is delicious. Add secure parking at the house, and we had everything we wanted. A must for an unforgettable stay in Palermo.

The host was very kind and clearly cares about hospitality and making guests comfortable. I liked the distinctive decor and private outdoor areas, and it was handy to walk to Palermo’s historic district. But getting there by car was difficult, and the nearby historic area also meant some grit right around the property. Cleanliness was a real letdown after all the five-star reviews. The B&B smelled of smoke, there were dust bunnies in our room corners, and my socks turned brown from walking without shoes. The bathroom smelled musty, and the shower drain was backed up, which made showering difficult. I don’t want to disparage a small business, but I wish I’d found a more accurate review before booking, so I feel I should warn other neat freaks like me.
