Hotel Savoy Parma

The owners were kind and ready to help, and the breakfast buffet was fresh and good. We found the rooms spacious, quiet, and very clean. The hotel is right in the center, handy for the sights and main attractions. A very clean, pleasant place, and one I’d recommend to anyone visiting Italy.

I wouldn’t return or recommend this place, even though the hotel itself isn’t bad and its location is great. The reception staff were extremely rude. I live in Canada and Italy and travel a lot, but I’ve never run into such an absurd situation anywhere. I left a skirt behind and called the same day. They told me to call back the next day, then said they hadn’t found anything. When I tried to explain that it couldn’t be right, reception hung up on me. I’d come to Parma for a theater performance with no luggage, just a sweater and a skirt to wear out. Thankfully I was only there one night and hadn’t left anything else unattended, like my documents. The same thing could have happened to something more valuable after the room was cleaned. There was nothing I could do, and you can’t call the police over a skirt. It wasn’t expensive, but it was one of my favorites.

The staff were professional, kind, and knew their work. Rooms had a simple, efficient setup, were clean and comfortable, and were wonderfully quiet. The location was just right, near the train station without being close enough to get the busy-hour noise. Definitely recommend it.

We had a decent stay, and dogs are allowed. Breakfast was included and good, and the hotel has both heating and air conditioning. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the city center, while garage parking is roughly five minutes away on foot. I’m not convinced it deserves four stars; the interior feels dated and the room was just okay, more like a three-star place.
