Perugia Park Hotel

The room was pretty big and spacious. There wasn’t a kettle, but we asked for one and they brought it. Breakfast was quite nice, and the dining area felt cosy and relaxing.

The bathroom cleanliness was the main problem for me. I found other people’s pubic hair on the toilet seat, and body hair in the shower and sink too. The “sanitised” strip didn’t reassure me when clearly nobody had checked. The drinks fridge was another issue: there was no sign saying whether the drinks were free or how much they cost. They turned out to be chargeable, which surprised several people in our group. A notice by the fridge would make that clear. There were some good points. The building is quite elegant, with wood throughout the rooms and corridors, and there’s plenty of parking. The water is very soft, and the softener seems to work well. The rooms are decent, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the air conditioning worked, though not perfectly. I especially liked that its controls were clear and easy to use. The hotel is right in front of the motorway, but the double-glazed windows kept the noise out. The hand towel, though, was so thin it was basically unusable after one use. Breakfast wasn’t very exciting. There were several pastries, all industrially made, and scrambled eggs, but no bacon. It wasn’t that they’d run out, it simply wasn’t included, which I find absurd. The waitress in the breakfast room was dressed in a way that made her look like a guest. At first I didn’t understand why a “guest” was telling someone what they could eat because of allergies. The staff were still polite and helpful. I left with mixed feelings, especially since these things could be fixed quite easily.

The highway location is the one thing keeping this from five stars. Otherwise, the room was clean, I slept really well, and breakfast had a good variety. Just what a tired traveller needs.

A very nice four-star hotel, with a roomy lounge and friendly reception and restaurant staff. I liked the soft water, which felt comfortable on my skin after a shower, and the room was nicely decorated with thoughtful toiletries. My only suggestion would be to put a kettle and cups in the room.
