Tui Magic Life Calabria

The walk through the woods to the beach was the most relaxing treat, with hammocks between the trees and yoga in the woods. The gardens were amazing, beautiful, and so well kept. I’ve never stayed in a TUI magic life that was cleaned so well, the team were amazing. It’s a special hotel village, with private lodges for an adults-only stay and simple but lovely, well-equipped standard rooms. Food was brilliant quality, with salads, fish, seafood, Pizza & Pasta, and plenty of speciality dishes, though perhaps not as much choice as some hotels. There’s a vegan station and a gluten-free option. The beach bar is included in the all-inclusive package, the sunbeds are free, and the sunsets are beautiful. Wunderbar is open 24 hours for snacks, coffee, and drinks. The activity programme was off the scale, so many activities. Use the app to book. The rooms have 2 pin sockets, so take an extension and a travel Kettle, as there are no tea or coffee trays. I’ll be back next year.

The grounds are landscaped and well maintained, but WiFi barely works in the rooms, even after reporting it. I went to reception three times about the problem, and I’m not the only one. The key card also wouldn’t let us back into our area. We reported it several times, as did others, and the IT support was poor. Food is good at mealtimes, and local beer and wine are available without limit. Other drinks cost extra. Ice cream is only included for two hours a day and costs extra outside that time, so on a hot day it can be unavailable, which is disappointing. The additional meal options are very limited and often unavailable, so think about what you want from an all-inclusive stay.

We’ve now been to Tui magic life Calabria three times, and keep coming back because we love it. This trip was just as good: amazing staff, amazing food, and lots of lovely memories. Our outing to Pizzo was a hit again. Angela deserves a special mention for making all three stays such a joy. Our little girl always asks about her when we’re there, and Anna was always making an effort to get her attention. Lorenzo looked after us at the trattoria restaurant and was great. We had to use the on-site doctor this time, which wasn’t ideal, but the service was quick and efficient and put our minds at ease. The doctor was very friendly, and reception got the prescription to us in under two hours. Can’t fault it, it feels like a home away from home now. We’ll be back!

The setting is beautiful, between clear water, the Calabrian hills, and a lovely forest. The pools and gardens are stunning, and the food and staff are great. TUI Magic Life really was magic overall, and with a few small tweaks, it would be even better. The evening entertainment was average. It was mostly TUI dancers, who are very good, but we saw only two professional acts all week. We’d expected more live singing and proper live acts, rather than just on two nights. Activities also had to be booked in advance, even darts, and archery was too early in the morning. Getting to Pizzo was the biggest problem. It’s only 15 minutes away, but the TUI shuttle was inflexible, allowing just three hours in town and costing €10 per person. Their taxi cost €80 return, and you had to pay the full amount even if you only wanted a taxi back. You couldn’t take the shuttle there and return by taxi at a time of your choice. For three adults, the options meant paying €30 for the shuttle both ways and the full €80 for the taxi both ways, €110 to go 15 minutes to Pizzo and return when we wanted. In town, we found out that the tuktuks go to TUI Magic Life and are a more flexible option.
