B&B Pompei Olympus

We booked four months ahead, then had changes to our travel plans and tried several times to cancel by email. Nobody replied. When we called five days before the stay, they sent a WhatsApp message saying their email wasn't secure, that we should have texted to cancel, and that nothing would be done. The website doesn't say they don't accept email or prefer WhatsApp. With several days' notice, a partial refund and clear communication should be the minimum.

The B&B is a small place in a converted apartment, with just four bedrooms and a shared communal area. Its central location makes it easy to walk to restaurants, Pompei center, and the main entrance to the Pompeii ruins in about 5 to 10 minutes. Rooms are spacious, pretty, and clearly well looked after. The beds are comfortable, it’s quiet, and every room has air-conditioning, with WiFi shared among guests. Breakfast isn’t served at the accommodation, but at a nearby cafe about five minutes away. We skipped it, so I can’t comment on the food.

The only letdown was the cafe breakfast, which didn’t include much. The host was very pleasant and kept in touch about things like our arrival time. Our bed was good, the place was clean, and the location worked well. I also liked Pompei more than I expected. Staying in town makes it possible to be first at the archaeological site, which is stunning.

The location made it easy to walk everywhere, on a quiet one-way street. We were welcomed warmly and given a short list of do's and don'ts. The room was comfortable and clean, with a small fridge, desk, and amour. The bathroom was nice, with a roomy shower, rain shower head, and hand wand, and we enjoyed the balcony. Getting in meant passing through an electric gate and two doors, then carrying our two roller bags up a short flight of stairs. We booked on booking.com and got email confirmation; host Francesco kept us updated on WhatsApp, which was very helpful.
