I was traveling alone in March 2023, and this place suited me really well. The building is old in a charming way, while the shower, sink, toilet, and bed in my room were updated and clean. I also had a small private balcony through a back door, which I enjoyed in the mornings and evenings. The bed was comfortable, WiFi worked great, and I had none of the usual travel hassles like leaks, traffic noise, or running out of hot water. Everything was very clean and just what I needed. The location is a big plus, about a block and a half from Trevi Fountain and a few blocks from the Pantheon in the other direction. The tradeoff is stepping straight into crowds of tourists, though that seemed typical around central Rome, Naples, Florence, and other city centers. The office is on the first floor, which Americans call the second, and staffed during working hours. The person who checked me in was courteous and helpful, and spoke much more English than I speak Italian. Would I recommend it to close friends and family? Definitely.

The entrance can be tricky to spot in the middle of everything, so I marked it in my photo. This place is also called 59 Steps Trevi. Its location makes it a great base for seeing lots of Rome on foot. Rooms are plain but clean, and the bathroom could do with an update, though it was perfectly fine for a few days. For a short city break, the value for money is very good.

The room was a good size, the staff were very friendly, and the service was excellent. No elevator, as their information says. You're just a short walk from Trevi Fountain and other sights, with plenty of restaurants and gelato shops nearby. We did have to deal with a very disruptive family. They slammed doors, talked loudly, and behaved obnoxiously. There was no office staff at night to sort it out. Luckily they were there only for two nights and three days during the day before we left. I don't know what you're meant to do in that situation. I'll tell the owner when we leave; he knew these guests were giving him grief about something when they checked in. Great location, and I would recommend the place.

The location was the one good thing for us. There are other places just as close that offer better rooms and proper customer service for the price. The “superior room” we booked looked nothing like the photos, so be careful if that's what draws you here. And this is a guest house, not a hotel. There was no breakfast, although the website and confirmation said it was available. Check-in was chaotic too. My parents were traveling with us, and even though my mother showed a receipt proving their room was paid, the man charged her card anyway. After more confused discussion, he realized the mistake and said he could refund only the most recent charge on the card machine. My husband and I hadn't prepaid, so we paid there. He then told us, “we can just work out the money between us.” WTH?!

I was very pleased with my stay at 59 Trevi and will definitely book again. I arrived on August 18th-20th before heading to Sardinia. The staff were friendly and informative, and even helped arrange my airport pickup. Trevi Fountain is literally steps away, with great restaurants and shops all around, so I didn't need transport.
