The apartment’s location was the highlight for us. It’s in a quiet residential area, about 5-7 minutes on foot from Ottaviano Metro station, 18-20 minutes from the Vatican, and just 4 minutes from Pewex for groceries. The price seemed reasonable for the location, but only average value for an off-season stay given the apartment’s age and unresolved problems. It may suit a short winter visit better than a longer one. The heating worked well, the pillows were comfortable, and the old kitchen appliances and basics all worked as expected. The TV was fine, the sofa was acceptable, and the coded and mobile-access security doors felt reassuring. The apartment was old but clean. Still, the mattresses were so worn that you sank into them, and that affected our sleep. The shower stayed lukewarm even as the sink water got extremely hot. We reported it, but nobody came to fix it. The old sockets wouldn’t hold plugs securely, and the air conditioner looked very old and poorly maintained. Anyone coming in summer should ask for proof its filters were recently cleaned. The interior felt like a pile of mismatched unwanted furniture and frames, with no clear style. The wall painting looked childlike and could use repainting. A consistent Roman or romantic design would help. The Google photos appeared to be at least 10 years old and didn’t match the apartment, which set the wrong expectations. Communication was generally polite, but follow-up and problem-solving were lacking, especially on the hot water. The place needs new mattresses, electrical upgrades, proper AC maintenance or replacement, reliable shower hot water, a more consistent interior, and accurate current photos. We had a mixed experience, and the apartment fell short of what we expected.
