Accommodation Corallo

We stayed four nights and found the room quiet, tidy, and pretty. We could walk to lots of places, and the metro was close too. For a 2 star hotel, it was a very nice stay, and the owner was lovely. When we asked for more bathroom paper, we got it, and the trash was taken out. There was no shampoo or body wash, but we picked some up while shopping. It was a relaxing stay.

We were glad to leave the next morning. The room had no air conditioning, which was pathetic, and my wife hardly slept. She also found the entrance much too dark. The elevator was tiny and had no light, which felt creepy. We arrived around 6pm to find reception closed. We were worried about getting a refund and finding another hotel. Tiny post-it notes explained the procedure: collect the keys from a man in the bar next door, who was rather rude. Another note said turning on the air conditioning would cost an extra 10 euro. I’d never encountered that before. It felt like a cheap trick.

It was fine for a single night, but bring exact change for the city tax. Our room smelled of smoke. I’m not sure whether it was that room or just the fact that everyone smokes here, so maybe it couldn’t be helped. The toilet also needed a few minutes before it would flush again.

The place was clean, and the cleaning lady did a great job. A euro or two with a request for towels, soap, or something else may help. The receptionist was friendly, though typically Italian. It’s a cheap hotel, with a sufficient room but little comfort: no desk, chairs, microwave, coffee maker, or even water heater. The elevator was out of order, so there were lots of stairs.
