Adoro Hotel

The staff were all helpful, and breakfast was good. The rooms were nice, though the air conditioning wasn’t great, and the hotel is a bit far from the center. I wouldn’t book the hotel’s transfer service again. Our first impression of Italy was a grumpy driver who just walked ahead while we pushed the luggage to keep up. He didn’t help load or unload at all. I thought maybe that was normal, but every Uber Black driver later helped us, so perhaps it was just him. His driving was also rash and dangerous, and my 8-year-old daughter threw up.

I spent Friday to Sunday at the Adoro Hotel, on my first visit to Rome, and the place lived up to its reviews. It was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. Everyone on staff was warm and helpful from the start. The woman who welcomed us, whose name I unfortunately can’t remember, explained everything clearly, and Diego at reception was professional and very supportive. Breakfast had a nice selection and was enough to get the day started. I especially liked the free shuttle: on Saturday they took us to the Colosseum and brought us back at no cost. There are even more free offers like that during the week, which I hadn’t come across at other hotels. A special thanks to our driver, Federico, who was polite, friendly, and did a great job. I’d happily return and highly recommend the hotel for its service, staff, and lovely stay.

The room with the hot tub and balcony was incredible, with lots of space, great air conditioning and shower, comfortable beds and pillows, and a lovely city view. On the last day of our trip, I stayed in a regular-sized room too, and that was good as well. The staff were very friendly. The hotel is in a safe area for a run, close to a bus stop that made getting around easy. It was about a 15-20 minute bus ride to the Colosseum and around 30 minutes from the airport by FreeNow, costing $50-$60. We checked in quickly and headed straight out to see the city.

I liked the hotel’s decor, so I won’t give it one star, but serious safety and service problems leave me at two. I found that ten ground-floor rooms and the room opposite, number forgotten, could be opened even when no rooms were available. The doors downstairs still opened after maintenance. I spent the night with this issue and only got moved after insisting strongly. There was also a male receptionist with glasses who treated me terribly. He kept me waiting at the front desk for two hours before changing rooms, and only did it after I yelled. When I said the problem was theirs, he loudly told me to email a complaint. He was swearing, apparently thinking I couldn’t understand. I’ve lived in Spain and Italy for nine years and understood every swear word. Someone who can’t do the job properly and handles problems that way doesn’t deserve respect.
