Hotel Alessandrino

The room was spacious, and the staff were helpful and friendly. A real highlight was the terrace, with its beautiful view over Rome. The hotel is fairly close to the Vatican and Roma San Pietro station, which is convenient, but the road up is steep and can be a struggle after a long day. There’s no breakfast at the hotel. Several restaurants are nearby, though getting to them means tackling some demanding stairs on the way down and back up.

Hotel Alessandrino is a charming building, and the staff are warm and very friendly. We had a good stay apart from a few room problems: some outlets didn’t work, and the bathtub wouldn’t fill properly. I’d suggest adding a microwave for guests to use. It would be especially helpful for people traveling with a baby, since we couldn’t find a way to heat food when we needed to.

We travel often, usually with our children, and have never had an experience like this. Around 9:00 PM, a guest from another room came to our door and banged on it aggressively. We apologized and stayed calm, but it was very upsetting, especially for the kids. We went out for dinner, and when we came back around 11:15 PM and were getting the children ready for bed, the same person returned and banged loudly again. The issue should have gone through reception, rather than being repeated at our room. The children were extremely frightened, and the hotel’s response was inadequate. This did not feel like a safe or suitable place for families. I expect management to take the behavior seriously and make sure appropriate safety measures are in place.

We’ve just checked in, and the rooms and hotel seem like very good value. I’d call it a three-star hotel, though I’ve given it four stars. The service feels five-star, with super friendly, helpful staff and reception open around the clock. There’s a small fridge in the room, a shower, toilet, and basin, and the beds are comfortable. The rooms are clean and tidy. It’s a bit removed from the tourist spots, but not too far from Vatican city, which is a plus. You can see Vatican city from the rooftop terrace. I’d recommend it if you don’t mind walking.
