Alexandra Hotel

The economy room was cramped, particularly the bathroom. The toilet and sink were so close you could almost use both at once. The shower was similarly tiny, about the size you’d find in a car-towed RV, but the pressure was great, with a rain head, hand sprayer, and plenty of hot water. Our bed was comfortable enough for restful sleep, and the table at its foot came in handy. Narrow French doors opened onto a small, fairly private balcony for fresh air. Hotel Alexandra is in a seemingly safe area, close to the Trevi Fountain and within walking distance of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Spanish Steps, and several other sights. Housekeeping was very good, and the friendly front desk staff were accommodating. Every receptionist spoke English very well. We skipped breakfast, and restaurants were easy to find. We booked through Expedia.

The room was small but had everything we needed, and the firm bed was reasonably comfortable. Staff were really friendly and the service was nice. It’s a great location, with the main tourist spots about a 10-minute walk away, so we could get everywhere on foot. We enjoyed our stay.

The property is in an excellent location, and breakfast was nice. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed four days on the fourth floor, but the lift wasn’t working until our last afternoon. Climbing five flights of stairs for several days was inconvenient, so I’d have rated the place higher if the lift had worked.

The building is clearly old and has been adapted for hotel use. The rooms could be laid out better, and pushing two twin beds together was an odd choice. Breakfast was good, but it could use more day-to-day variety. The shower head slid down to its lowest position, and hot water took at least 10 minutes to arrive, no exaggeration. Still, the hotel is charming, quiet, clean, and in a great location. The AC worked very well.
