Hotel Antico Palazzo Rospigliosi

In November 2025, I stayed for five days while on a pilgrimage. A travel agent booked the hotel for our group, and most people had a bad experience. Some dealt with broken toilet seats and pipes under the bathroom sinks, but the worst issue was bedbugs. I don't think this hotel deserves even one star. Who would want to risk bringing bedbugs home? I'll make sure to check hotel ratings before booking again.

Our room was far too cramped for three people. There was hardly room to move or open luggage, and the fridge worked weakly. The elevator felt old and unreliable, and there was an unpleasant smell throughout the outdated parts of the hotel. The entrance and reception, though, looked modern and welcoming. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and they spoke good English. When we asked for a replacement hairdryer, it arrived quickly. Breakfast was very basic, although the store-bought cake was the best item. Despite the kind staff, the facilities and comfort disappointed us, especially for a ridiculously high price.

We came away feeling relaxed and well looked after. The staff were warm and professional from the start, spoke several languages, and helped with restaurant suggestions and sightseeing tips. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The historic building has a quiet, elegant feel that made a peaceful retreat even with the city outside. Hotel Antico Palazzo Rospigliosi is very central, a short walk from the Colosseum and an easy stroll from Termini Station. Taxis were easy to find right outside. For a convenient Roman stay, we'd happily return.

We expected to pay €240 for the room after arranging it by phone, but were charged €270. On arrival, the room was unacceptable: the AC didn't work, the shower was broken, the door was damaged, the fridge didn't work, and the room hadn't been cleaned. After being out all day, we had to look for towels ourselves late that evening. For that price we expected a clean room and working amenities. A very disappointing experience, and we won't return.
