Aurelia Vatican Apartments

The place was nice and clean, but there really weren’t any amenities. It’s quiet, though not close to much. Washing and drying each cost 6 euros, and the dryer left our clothes damp, so we had to hang them on the balcony. I’d look for somewhere nearer a shop unless you have a car or plan to take the bus. They really don’t offer much in the way of amenities.

The reception staff were some of the friendliest people I’ve met in a hotel, but the rest of the stay was poor. The hotel is a long way from central Rome, with either a long wait for the bus or a 20-minute walk to the Metro. The shower kept changing temperature, had weak pressure, and the head sprayed in every direction. The room listing said there were kitchen facilities, but they turned out to be shared with all the other guests. Other guests took my food from the shared kitchen, and nothing was done about it. The kitchen was disgusting and looked like the hotel had never cleaned it. My bed was rock hard, with just one very cheap pillow. The room lock and handle were badly damaged and worn. The TV was small, offered very few options, and had only about 4-5 low-quality English channels.

This was my second stay. It’s a 10-minute walk to the Metro, while the bus stop is right outside. There are cafés before you get to the Metro, and a shopping complex nearby with more than enough shops. The hotel isn’t in the heart of the city, which means it’s quiet and peaceful. Rooms are very clean, and the friendly staff are always around to help. I’ll stay here again when I’m in Rome. Thanks to Giada again for the friendly help and great service.

The room was very clean, and a few staff members were respectful and friendly, but they didn’t actually help us. The TV wouldn’t play anything except Italian, no matter what we tried, and even the staff couldn’t change it. The Wi-Fi kept dropping, and there was no breakfast. Service was lackluster. Laundry cost $10.50 for each small load, and there were basically no amenities beyond an espresso maker with no espresso. The vending machine got stuck too often. We paid $2,000 for four nights, and the place is far from everything unless you want to walk or rent a vehicle. Don’t waste your money.
