There’s a shared kitchen area open 24 hours, with breakfast, drinks, and cake available. Each room also has a fridge and kettle. We had a double room, roomy enough for our four nights as we only slept there. We slept well, thanks to the blackout blinds, soundproofing, and air conditioning, and the walk-in shower was excellent. This is a simple B&B north of the city, about 20 minutes from Rome Termini, with a bus into the centre a short walk away. Villa Borgese, a beautiful park with galleries and a lake, is also nearby. You collect your key card from the hotel around the corner. The receptionist was very helpful, and there were free maps and restaurant suggestions. I’d stay again if I’m in Rome.

We left after just one night of our three night booking and paid for the change ourselves. It was that bad. The place is advertised as an apartment style hotel, but it absolutely isn’t, and the room is incredibly tiny, Tokyo sized without any Japanese charm. The photos don’t look like the actual place. We only got two towels for four days, there were stains all over the room, and housekeeping came early in the morning and woke us up. The free snacks were there, but they were garbage, the lowest quality. The check in guy seemed rushed and nervous. Avoid this place. I think the other reviews are fake.

The good points are that it’s in a safe neighborhood and about a 15-20 minute walk from Rome’s main tourist attractions. The receptionist was sometimes away from her desk and hard to find, but when I did find her, she was kind and ready to help. It feels more like a hostel than a hotel, in an old building with one apartment and just five guest rooms. Breakfast is in a little kitchen with nowhere to sit, and it’s just small treats and supermarket biscuits. Room cleaning and fresh sheets cost extra. There’s also an extra city tax, though I suppose other hotels in Rome charge that too.

I paid 72 euro a night, and it was good value. The rooms were big and really clean, and the people were kind. Shane at reception gave us great tips on where to shop, and I loved the advice. Breakfast was free, with really nice croissants and marmelades. The shower gel samples were a nice touch too.
