Max cancelled our reservation about two hours before we were due to arrive, while we were still on the flight. Our flight was delayed by an hour, so we couldn’t meet him at the original time. He said he had to go to work, then blocked me on Whatsapp and stopped answering calls. We reached Testaccio at 7:30 PM in the peak vacation season with no room. Luckily, we found another place that was similarly convenient, but it was pure luck. I wouldn’t risk ending up stranded like that. Truly a horrible host. EDIT: In response to Max’s comments, he first told me our delay was a big problem and that he couldn’t check us in after 8 PM. I agreed, even though his listing said check-in was available until 11 PM without any caveats. He repeated how much trouble the delay caused him, then said he’d contact “booking.” They tried calling me while I was on a flight from France to Italy, which Max knew because we’d been discussing the delay. I can only guess he uses this approach to cancel bookings that interfere with his work schedule. What I know is that at 7:30 PM, when I reached his apartment building, he’d already cancelled our booking and blocked me.

Max was friendly and helpful, especially with directions for buses, routes, and local restaurants. We spent four days at his place, and both the room and bathroom were clean. It’s well located near Rome’s historic center, with good bus connections. Highly recommended, especially for the price.

Testaccio is right in the heart of the capital, and you can reach the center in minutes by metro or bus. A nice walk is another option. I’ve been coming to Rome for work and holidays for a few years, and Max’s B&B is where I always choose to stay. I call it living there because his warm, friendly welcome and the reassuring family atmosphere make me feel at home.

Max won us over with his kindness and how helpful he was, especially with his great advice for getting around the city. The B&B itself was welcoming, the room was clean, and breakfast was excellent. We’ll definitely come back. Highly recommend it.

The price is great, and the bathroom facilities are impeccable. The rooms are always kept clean and tidy. Max is such a warm-hearted, helpful person. It’s a really comfortable place.
