Campo Marzio Luxury Suites

The two good things during my five nights were the polite staff and the location. I won't be coming back, though. The mattress was horrible, the room stayed noisy late into the night, and traffic and construction meant I couldn't sleep past 7:30 a.m. Cleaning was okay, but the breakfast was awful. The tiny coffee room offered basically croissants, yogurt, two kinds of cake, and coffee or milk. Eggs, cheese, and ham cost extra. The room was always hot when we got back from a walk because the AC shut off whenever we left with the keys. Even when it was running, at least in my room it couldn't bring the temperature down to the 19 degrees Celsius set on the thermostat.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owner and the people running the property were fantastic, and the attention felt very personal. The location in Campo Marzio is hard to beat, among 16th-century streets and lots of lovely little shops. There's even a linen shop across the street that has been selling linens since the 1800s. The entrance is tiny and the stairs are narrow, but upstairs are several beautiful rooms with rain-head showers, comfortable beds, and cozy Italian linens.

Our room was small but thoughtfully equipped, and the location was just right. Everyone on staff was friendly and available whenever we needed them, without hovering. Breakfast was good too. The one little frustration was that cell reception in our room, Adriano, sometimes disappeared completely. The Wi-Fi made up for it. Bravo!

Be careful if you stay here. Ammonia gas exploded in my room during my stay, and I couldn't breathe for a few minutes. The hotel won't accept responsibility or offer compensation after traumatizing me and ruining my vacation. Don't go there.
