Casa Heberart Guest House - Sistina

It's clean and quiet, and you can walk to lots of sights from this place in the heart of Rome. Casa Heberart Sistina is amazing. The room itself gets four stars from me because it was small, including the bathroom. Bring some euros in cash for the bed tax, which isn't included in the price and is paid on arrival or the following day.

Casa Heberart is right in the heart of the city, so we were close to everything and loved our stay. Piazza di Spagnia and Fontana di Trevi were about a 7 minute walk away. We ate there multiple times at a place called Pizza in Trevi. The people at Casa Heberart were lovely and welcoming. We'd definitely recommend staying here!

The one bright spot was the nice night host. Otherwise, I thought this place was lucky to get three stars despite its high reviews. The rooms look much more lavish in the photos, and there was no air conditioning, just a broken fan pointing at the roof, which didn't help. The windows look onto an unpleasant back alley and roof area, with bad smells, and mosquitoes came in if we left them open. Breakfast was disappointing too. I hope the city repairs the subway stop near the hotel, since the other two are a long way away.

Casa Heberart Sistina was exactly the kind of intimate, local-feeling place I'd hoped to find in Rome. In Paris, I'd seen people go through small street doors into interesting courtyards and lobbies, and wished I could stay somewhere like that. This was the best place we stayed on our Europe trip. The guest house sits behind an unassuming street entrance. We rang the bell, gave our name, and were greeted at the door. Our room was beautiful and full of character, and the balcony was a lovely spot to watch people heading to the Spanish Steps. You can see the obelisk from the guest house window. The location worked perfectly for us. When we got tired, we could pop back to the room for a nap, and all the buses we needed stopped within a 1-2 minute walk.
