The location is perfect, and the rooms are a good size. The shower has enough room to actually fit in, too. There is a lift, but it’s very cramped. If you can’t fit in it, or someone leaves the inner door open, it won’t work, so be ready for 80 stairs. The place itself was welcoming, but I got no instructions at check-in and couldn’t tell whether breakfast was included. I tried calling when I wanted to leave my bags, but nobody picked up. I took a chance and went over anyway, and it worked out. My room was ready early, though it was the off season. There isn’t much space for clothes, which seems normal in Europe. I couldn’t ask about an airport shuttle because I don’t speak Italian.

The location was the only good part of this stay. We had to message the host before check-in because there’s no front desk, but they never replied or told us how to get the keys to the apartment building. When we finally reached a maintenance worker, we couldn’t communicate easily because of the language barrier. The host only got in touch to request the tax payment. The bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned, with dirt around the toilet and on the floor, plus water marks on the shower glass. They also charged for changing towels each day, something that should’ve been clear in the listing. Noise was another problem. The place is basically a shared living room with five separate bedrooms, so you can hear other guests talking. The lift fits only two people and requires closing two separate doors inside. One guest kept leaving the first door open, which made the lift unusable, so I had to climb four flights every day for my whole stay. With all those problems, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The chandelier over our bed was the finishing touch on this ancient place, and the location was as close to perfect as it gets. Everything is only steps away. This spot made my first trip to Rome spectacular. Book early, it sells out fast. Trust me.

The price was good and the location is amazing, but the stay went badly. We were there in July 2024 and checked in without meeting anyone. The AC was blowing hot air and there was no remote. Outside hit 99°F (37°C) the next day, making it even hotter indoors. I spent money on several international calls to the hotel, only to be told dismissively that the AC was broken and they’d work on it. Hotels.com also struggled to reach the property. After our second evening without air conditioning, we finally got a refund and booked another hotel at the last minute for much more.
