Donna Camilla Savelli – VRetreats Hotel

Coming back to Hotel Donna Camilla Savelli after long days out felt like returning to a quiet sanctuary. The courtyards, gardens, architecture, and historic details made the hotel itself a pleasure to explore, and the terrace was a lovely place to take in Rome. Our room was comfortable, well maintained, and had plenty of character. The staff were welcoming and professional, always ready with recommendations or arrangements, and every exchange felt hospitable. We especially loved staying in Trastevere. It was easy to wander through this lively, authentic neighborhood, with its cafés, restaurants, and streets, while still being close to Rome's famous landmarks. The hotel is in a beautifully restored historic building, and has a rare sense of place, full of Roman charm and romance alongside the comfort and service you'd expect from a luxury hotel. We left with wonderful memories. Rome is an extraordinary city, and Hotel Donna Camilla Savelli made a great base for experiencing it. We'd gladly return on another visit. If you're looking for history, character, and an authentic Roman stay, it's an exceptional choice.

We've been back to Donna Camilla Savelli four times. It really feels like our home away from home in Rome. The rooftop terrace has a fantastic view, and since the place used to be a convent, there's even a Catholic church as part of the hotel. Trastevere, which means "Across the river," is calm and quiet around the hotel, but local piazzas with nightlife and plenty of restaurants are only about a five-minute walk away. The rooms are very comfortable. Everyone there is wonderful, especially Maria at the front desk and Martina in the restaurant. They're absolute angels!

Our family’s first trip to Rome felt special thanks to this wonderfully non-traditional hotel. Its history and charm are all around, the rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, and they had everything we needed. The staff really do their best to help with whatever comes up. We booked directly with the hotel and chose the insured rate for someone close to me, who had to cancel for serious personal reasons. She followed the rules, but the hotel still charged the full amount as if the insurance wasn't there and offered no help. The insurer hasn't responded, leaving customers to handle it alone. The hotel takes payment up front and promotes BeSafe Plus, then distances itself when guests try to claim. It feels extremely fishy, and showed zero accountability. Reading other reviews, this seems to happen repeatedly. People facing major medical issues or bereavement have reportedly been denied refunds and left to fight a Goliath-like insurance provider themselves. Other reputable hotels, even some that cost less, offer straightforward free cancellation instead of putting guests through a bureaucratic battle. If you expect the insurance to give you peace of mind, it doesn't. Think carefully before booking.
