Hotel DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti

We were glad we chose this hotel for our six days in Rome. The area felt very safe, with shops and restaurants just minutes away, and there was even a gelato place across the street. The room was just right, with a safe, good room service, and a complimentary bottle of water each day. It was expensive, but worth it for a relaxing and fun visit. The staff were friendly, spoke English, and helped quickly whenever we needed something. Mamalia was great for breakfast, with continental, American, English, and other options. We ate dinner there once and liked it too. It never looked crowded at dinner, so a reservation may not be necessary. The lobby was a nice place to relax, as was the bar on the eighth floor. MIT café served good coffee and treats. We walked to nearly every attraction, except the Vatican, which was 20 minutes by metro. The Colosseum took 20 minutes on foot, and the Borghese Gallery about 35. Just walking around, we came across so many sights we hadn’t known about. Rome’s architecture is stunning everywhere. The train and metro are about a 10-minute walk away.

We loved the hotel’s decor and its location, and our king suite upgrade was gorgeous. Breakfast was outstanding, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only annoyance was the noise above Room 746: whenever staff set up tables and chairs on the outdoor garden terrace, they dragged them across the floor and we could hear it below. I had to mention it twice. The noise stopped, then started again. Apart from that, we had a great stay and loved the hotel and its staff.

Housekeeping stood out most. Our room was cleaned very carefully every day, and the service overall was excellent. The breakfast was solid, and the lobby looked beautiful. I honestly didn’t expect DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti to be this good for a DoubleTree. The area felt safe and made it easy to get around Rome. A great stay.

I’m glad I stuck with my booking, because I was second guessing the choice before I arrived. Nearly everything was five-star: the front desk, the upstairs bar, the person cleaning my room, and the kitchen chefs were all great. The breakfast and dinner restaurant staff and waitresses were among the best I’ve had, in Europe or the US. The air conditioning worked well, nights outside the hotel were quiet, and there were lots of dining options nearby. It’s an easy 10-minute walk to the train station. Our only problem was that the room felt small, with too little storage for two people. We still highly recommend the hotel.
