Dreaming in Rome

Our booking was canceled just two days before we were due to arrive, despite having reserved three months ahead. Booking support said it was because of overbooking. The property hadn't contacted us about the cancellation, and when I got in touch, they said two rooms had flooded. Based on the reviews I'd seen, this apparently wasn't the first time. I suspect they sold our room to someone else for more money, though I can't be sure. Either way, it was ridiculous and very unprofessional. I strongly recommend avoiding this place so you don't go through the same thing. Update: The owner called me and lied several times. She never sent photos of the supposed damage. When I was in Rome, I asked to see it myself, but she kept making excuses. I have screenshots of the conversation. Avoid this place at all costs!

Claudia was such a lovely host, and we'd definitely visit again. The room was very clean, with a nice bathroom, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Towels, a hairdryer, coffee maker with coffee, kettle with tea bags, and mineral water were all provided. There's also a small shared kitchen with the tools and appliances you need. The location is great, just five minutes from Spagna metro station and the Spanish Steps. We had an amazing stay.

I was left standing outside with my luggage after a long, exhausting day, with no one to speak to and no solution, even though I'd paid in full. The check-in deadline of 8 pm wasn't made clear. I arrived later, and the place was closed. They also canceled my reservation so I wouldn't leave bad feedback. I had to find somewhere else, and it cost me twice as much. Extremely disappointed with the service.

We booked through booking.com and had no trouble with the reservation itself. The room was smaller than I expected, though, and there's an annoying noise that stands out more at night. If you're a light sleeper, this might not be the best choice. The value for the price just isn't there. If you can afford an Airbnb, that could be better.
