Hotel Emona Aquaeductus

Our hosts gave us a warm welcome, with tea and pastries, and offered beer and coffee, which we declined. They upgraded our room, where we enjoyed looking out over the neighborhood and its balconies. We also got a close-up view of the tiny triangular lift fitting beside the stairwell. Breakfast was a highlight: a generous, leisurely spread of sweet and savory food, plenty of fruit, and fresh coffee served at our table. It cost an extra 13 euros. For three nights, the stay was a bargain at $468 Australian. The hotel’s location was brilliant for our visit to La Via Antica Appia, the Appian Way, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The huge remains of the Aquaduct were always in view, and we were far enough from the over-touristed areas near the Vatican. We went for an early walk after our first night and were delighted to find the cafes already open and buzzing with locals.

The staff made the whole place work. They were friendly, communicative, always ready to help, and made us feel comfortable at every step. I can’t wait to visit them again. It’s in a super quiet neighborhood, across from remnants of the Aqueduct and close to public transit hubs. The courtyard garden and its fountains were wonderfully peaceful. A great location and a tranquil stay, but it was the people who really made everything click.

We had a really enjoyable family stay, and we’re grateful to the whole team for their kindness and dedication. From our arrival, they welcomed us warmly and came across as both friendly and very professional. The relaxed atmosphere and all the little details made it a special, memorable time. We’d gladly come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant stay.

It was quiet, clean, and away from the tourist crowds, with several public transport options nearby. The air conditioning worked great, and the front desk staff were lovely and helpful.
