Gambrinus Hotel

The front desk staff were welcoming, and the Wi-Fi is free. The room was small and hot, and there’s just one little elevator. The stairwell doors to the floors are locked. Breakfast had a decent range, but it was nearly the same each morning, and the staff serving it were pretty rude. They scolded my family and me for leaving the dining room with food, saying it was for vague “sanitary reasons,” even though I saw other guests take food out. Be ready to throw away perfectly good food, since apparently you can’t get seconds after leaving either. It works for resting after a long day, and that’s about it.

The bus stop right across the street makes it easy to get to the main sights, though the hotel itself is a little out of the way. My room was small but had what I needed, and the shower was excellent. Bedding and towels were changed daily, and breakfast was excellent too. I’d certainly recommend it.

The room and ensuite at Gambrinus Hotel were rather cramped, with barely any space for suitcases. Still, it was very clean and got cleaned every day. The staff were friendly and helpful.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, plus a grocery store for everyday bits. To get to the sights, you'll need public transport, whether that's a bus, Metro, or taxi. The front desk can call a taxi, and one arrived within five minutes for us. This was our first hotel on a Rome-Florence-Venice tour, a quaint, cozy boutique place. The breakfast buffet was satisfying, and Roel was great about keeping our coffee cups full.
