Lovely apartment in a great spot. The front door lock needs fixing, and a smile from the people handing over the keys would be nice. If they can't improve their attitude, maybe a lockbox would be better, like everyone else uses.

The apartment's best feature is its location, right in the heart of Rome, a short walk from Piazza Navona and Campo de' Fiori. Via del Governo Vecchio has plenty of excellent trattorias, and there's the famous Frigidarium ice cream shop too. Give it a try, but expect to queue for at least 20 minutes. Inside, there's quite a bit that could be improved, especially the cleanliness and some of the details. The split AC unit vibrated so annoyingly that we couldn't sleep well. The little terrace looks lovely in the photos, but actually faces a back courtyard and a rather drab small courtyard. The apartment door on the same floor was also hard to open with its double-bitted key, which didn't work perfectly. Still, it's suitable for a short city break, mainly because of where it is. Rome, Caput Mundi.

Walking along Via del Governo Vecchio, Via del Pellegrino, and Piazza San Pantaleo feels like travelling back through time, moving from one wonder to the next.
