We stayed in 12 places on our Italy tour, and this was by far the worst. We booked four nights through Booking.com, but after arriving in the early evening, we found the property wasn’t as advertised. It’s a bus ride and then a train ride from Rome’s attractions. The apartment building was rundown and depressing, and it didn’t seem to be occupied by families. The kitchen shown in the photos was actually communal. It was dirty and falling apart, with no way to light the gas, no utensils, plates, kitchenware, or kettle, so making tea or coffee was impossible. Our room was clean, but extremely basic and marked with stains, and it needed freshening up. We asked to speak to the owner, who said he’d come up, but after waiting a long time we found him talking with people in the entrance. He offered us a better room, but we’d had enough. Since it was already late, we stayed one night and looked for somewhere else for the other three nights in the morning. He refused any refund for those nights, took our payment for all four, then removed our booking from Booking.com so we couldn’t leave a review. That’s why I’m posting this on Google. Finding somewhere else at the last minute was difficult. I’ve never felt the need to leave a bad review before.
